Having a hard time drinking lots of water? Try Green tea instead. It is loaded with antioxidants and now research says it may lift your mood. It also has 2 key compounds that may help your achy joints and it’s good for a healthier mouth. With the heat of summer coming on it is very important to keep hydrated.
Water makes up about 70% of our bodies so it makes sense that we should replenish it daily. You hate the taste of water? Just push yourself and try drinking a glass first thing in the morning. Then again, before lunch and dinner. Did you know that you might feel hungry when you are really thirsty? So, drink up. It’s an easy way to get on the road to good health.

The summer is over and fall is here. Have you started your quest
to be a healthier person? Often it is harder in the winter months to
exercise and eat right. Colder weather triggers an instinct to conserve
energy by eating more and moving less. This was a good thing when
food was scarcer in the wintertime and activity used up precious energy needed to keep warm. This hibernating
impulse no longer applies as we have plenty of food and heat. Consequently we tend to gain weight.
Add in the holidays, which all seem to center around feasts of drinking and eating, and if you are like the
average American you may gain as much as 10 pounds from October to January. Don’t be one of them!
Pick one small thing to do to start on your healthy winter program. Walk a little more, drink more water, get a good night’s sleep, meditate…just do one thing and start it today.

Seems like everyone wants to lose five pounds. Well, why not start now to do one little thing to reach that goal? Don’t put a time limit on it. Just pick one small change in your daily routine that you can make to start the process. And even if you have a lot more than five pounds to lose, forget about the rest and begin with five.
I’m going to do 10 minutes of cardio a day. That’s it. I should be able to do that. I can do more if I like but will pat myself on the back when I do the 10 AND not beat myself up if I don’t. Join me! What will your committement be?

I’LL START ON MONDAY
It’s Monday and once again I’ve started that weight loss and exercise plan I began last Monday. It all went pretty well until the darn weekend. Friday was a pot-luck and everyone brought something new. There were dishes I’d never seen before. I saw them and ate them. Sunday was a buffet, which I always find challenging in regard to eating healthy. To top things off, my routine on a weekend is so different, my usual cardiovascular exercise got put by the “weigh” side.

BEGIN WITH FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
Functional fitness requires a daily minimum of 30 minutes of PLANNED movement that raises your heart rate. Don’t think that hurrying to the kitchen for another slice of pie during a commercial break constitutes cardiovascular exercise. it doesn’t.
IT’S NEVER TOO SOON TO START
So begin right now. (You already know how to do this stuff.)
